Creator Cha-Ching! 💸 Making Bank & Keeping it Beautifully Organized

(Yes, even with 10+ income streams!)

Are you a coach, consultant, or content creator? Feel like you’re getting pulled in too many directions? Losing track of (or don’t know how to even begin tracking) what’s coming in and what’s going out? Feeling like finances are interfering with your creative sparkle?

Here are some tips to help you get organized:

  • Revel in the Revenue!  First, identify your revenue streams – where’s the green flowing from? Brand deals, ad revenue, affiliate links, merch, digital products, tips… Make a happy list of all the ways your talent brings in the moolah.
  • Tag It! (Tracking Each Stream.) When money comes in, give it a name tag! ‘Sponsorship – Sparkle Co.’ or ‘Ad Revenue – YouTube.’ Whether you’re using spreadsheets or accounting software – give yourself enough detail to know what those numbers are. This makes it easier to see what’s working for you, over time, and the info will for sure be essential for tax time.
  • Contracts & Emails are Gold: That email confirming a brand deal? That contract for a sponsored post? Save ’em!! They’re part of your financial story and proof of income. Set up a folder in your email or cloud based storage, and drop all those treasures there, in one place.
  • Deductible Delights (Creator Expenses): Your camera, that ring light, software subscriptions, travel for a shoot, part of your internet bill… many things that help you create are legit business expenses! (Check with a tax pro for specifics, always!)
  • Gifted Goodies – The Taxing Truth: How exciting is it to get gifted products?! Just a friendly heads-up: if it’s in exchange for a post or review, it may well count as income. You’ll need to track its value – enter it, tag it, and have your accountant review it.

You’re a creative powerhouse, you’ve got the $$ coming in – and your finances can be just as artfully managed as your career! Keeping things organized means less stress and more energy for your next amazing project. Sparkle on!
